Our story

Bridging the gap between home & school.

Since 2007, The Children's Education Centre has been the bridge for thousands of students. We believe every child's potential is unlocked when the two most important doors in their life open to the same journey.

Our philosophy

Two doors, one journey

The Spelling Series and the GCSE Programme aren't two separate products. They're two doors into the same relationship with your child's education, from early foundations through GCSE success.

Meet the founder

Mrs Bukky Ekine-Ogunlana

Co-Founder, The Children's Education Centre

Co-founded TCEC in 2007 after her own son struggled at school and the support available wasn't enough. Drawing on her years of experience in education, she gathered every resource she could to help him, and that experience sparked a mission to do the same for other children. What began as a physical centre in Hackney has since taught over 10,000 students, and today Bukky leads that same mission as a digital learning platform through the Spelling Series and the GCSE Programme, including every discovery call and diagnostic assessment for new GCSE students.

Our history

The TCEC journey

2007

TCEC co-founded

The Children's Education Centre is co-founded by Mrs Bukky Ekine-Ogunlana in Hackney, London, built on a simple belief: every child deserves the confidence to succeed.

2010

A growing community

Within three years, TCEC has taught over 2,500 students, word of mouth alone carrying the centre's reputation across Hackney and beyond.

2012

First cohort reaches university

TCEC's first students head off to university, many of them children who once doubted they'd get there at all.

2020

Going digital

TCEC moves online, bringing structured, expert-led support into homes across the UK.

2021

The Spelling Series is born

TCEC publishes its first Spelling Series workbooks, extending its reach to younger learners nationwide.

2026

A new chapter

TCEC launches its personalised learning portal, giving every enrolled student their own dashboard for homework, resources, and real-time progress tracking, wherever they are.

Our impact

More than numbers

Over 10,000 students have come through TCEC's doors, from primary school through to secondary. Many went on to university, some the first in their family to do so. Others found their path through apprenticeships, and a good number are now building careers in corporate roles, some with first-class degrees behind them. These aren't just numbers to us. They're the reason TCEC exists.
